Though not really a surprise, it’s still sad to see. Kodak is an American institution, and hopefully the reorganization will put them on the right track. I know it’s improbable, but I’d love to see Apple buy them up. There’s a lot of value in Kodak’s IP. Run properly, Kodak could be great again. I would bet that Apple has taken a look at purchasing Kodak, if for nothing else than their patent portfolio. They probably view the purchase as too expensive for what patents Kodak possesses. But I think the two companies technologies and focus on the consumer market place are very complimentary.

Apple long ago killed its printer and camera products, because it needed, at the time, to focus on its core competencies. Now that Apple is back on solid footing, adding Kodak’s photo and imaging products to Apple’s product matrix could strengthen Apple’s overall position in the desktop computer market place.
